About Anita Barrett
Geelong based Anita Barrett has always had easy access to Victoria’s Surf Coast, Bellarine region, and parks, which has instilled in her a deep appreciation of nature. Although she has struggled with anxiety throughout her life, Anita finds solace in nature and often immerses herself in the natural environment. This helps her feel alive, grateful, and creative.
Anita is passionate about sketching and documenting her experiences. She uses sketchbooks to capture the peacefulness of the moment and her admiration for the shapes and lines found in nature. Her sketchbooks are an essential part of her artistic practice, serving as a visual record of her journey. In her studio Anita uses these records to create artwork, typically focusing on calm and peaceful scenes with birds in a coastal landscape. She paints in an impressionistic style often within a circular shape to draw the viewer’s attention.
Anita studied art at the Latrobe Fine Art School in Geelong and has been refining her painting techniques ever since. She has had twelve solo shows, participated in numerous group shows, and sold her works across Australia and overseas.
