June 22 – July 22, 2018
German-born, Melbourne-based Katrin Koenning is an artist with a particular interest in our emotional and physical connection to place and to that which surrounds us.
For her exhibition at Salt Contemporary, Koenning was commissioned by Queenscliff’s Low Light Festival to create new work, documenting the region. The images seek to offer a counter-narrative to expected representations of Queenscliff’s seaside identity, allowing the place to unfold as it may, quietly, marked by the melancholy one may encounter when one stands by the ocean for long time.
