The Long Summer
Paintings by Craig Parnaby

“The beach is where I am most at home. Where I am restored and inspired.” (Craig Parnaby)
Through a unique visual iconography, Craig pays homage to a positive, youthful, and humanist celebration of life’s simple pleasures. His imagery depicts the architectural forms and easy-going lifestyle of the urban coastal landscape.
Like castles in the sand, his figurative works create a three-dimensional illusion of bodies merging with and emerging from the landscape. The tonal variations of umber beach figures, in contrast to the turquoise sea and raspberry reds create warmth that glows on the canvas.
